The original Unsplash Instant extension for Google Chrome is deprecated and no longer available on the Chrome Web Store. The original version was removed because it relied on an outdated extension framework (Manifest V2). This extension was built from the ground up to support modern browser standards (Manifest V3) while keeping the exact layout and features of the classic extension. Open Chrome: Open your Google Chrome browser.
Go to the Web Store: Navigate directly to the official Unsplash Instant Reborn Chrome Web Store Page.
Install: Click the blue Add to Chrome button, then select Add extension in the pop-up prompt.
Configure (First-Time Only): Because this is a third-party clone, you must pair it with a free personal API key: An options page will automatically open upon installation.
Follow the prompt link to log into Unsplash Developers and click Your Apps -> New Application to instantly generate a free Access Key. Paste that Access Key into the extension’s options box.

If your new tabs still show the standard Google search page after installation, Chrome may have disabled the extension to protect your preferences. Open a new tab.
Look for a notice at the top asking if you want to keep the changes.
